March 20, 2011 Myrtle Beach Practice Event

I'm waiting to see what pics surface.
I was kind of busy DRIVING, but here's the few I took.

Not going to lie, I really like the Battles on it.
I guess that's why EVERYONE has them.

I'm going to put up EVERY picture I find from the event, good or bad.
All are completely un-edited.

Go ahead, judge me.

Kind of cool...

Since I have had the Wiring Specialties wiring harness, I've been tackling some wiring demons in my car.  Once I had the harness entirely hooked up, I discovered that the starter would not engage when the key was turned to "start"

After much aggravation it turned out to be pretty simple.  The guy who previously owned the car had an anti-theft system in the car which tied into the ignition system.  Well, needless to say, they did a horrible job and used butt connectors.  So I guess there was enough tension on the wiring at one point or another to pull the wires out of the connector.

So at this point the car was turning over VERY slowly, but it WAS turning over.  Next was to see why it wouldn't start!  I popped open the coilpack cover and saw some moisture near the coilpacks.  Once I pulled them out I saw PUDDLES of water around my spark plugs.  EW.

So I pulled my plugs, let the cylinders air out a bit and got some new plugs.  My friend Andy suggested to get some starter fluid to spray into the cylinders before putting the new plugs in.  I thought it sounded like a pretty good idea and went with it.  So now with new plugs and the coilpacks all cleaned up and the starter fluid in each cylinder I again tried to turn the car over...

After 3 or so slow cranks the car started right up and revved to about 2500rpm and slowly died again.  So my best guess at this point is that the starter fluid worked in starting the engine, and caused the high idle, and once it all burned off, the engine shut back down.  Assuming this is correct, leads me to believe that the engine is being starved of fuel.  So those will be the next series of tests I will preform!

and since blogs without pictures are lame...

The few, the proud...

Okay, maybe not proud, but for the few of you who do check this blog out every once in a while I suppose I have some information.  I just got sponsored by Wiring Specialties and they shipped out the wiring harness I need yesterday.  So for real this time, if things go well, the car should be running this weekend.

Drift event this month?
I think so.

Edited a couple.

When it rains, make lemonade.

Just thought these were cool...

Oh yeah, got that *NEW* new.

I'm still waiting on the Wiring Specialties RB --> S13 harness...

Oh well, if nothing else it's allowed me to do some other things I've been wanting to do.

First points event for Charlotte is in March. I've still got some time.

Merry Christmas?

This weekend was pretty productive as I was able to
install my new downpipe, oil cooler adapter, and radiator.
Also, I fitted my power steering and oil catch can.
Lastly, I got my chassis harness back in.
I think I might have even done it all correctly.
My engine harness comes in on Tuesday and I'm trying to get
off of work on Wednesday to install it.
I'm just waiting on my intake manifold to IC piping reducer and my new fan setup.

This may lead to a very Merry Christmas.

Shopping is also a man's best friend.

So you know how girls like to go shopping when they get upset? Then they impulsively buy a shit ton of things they don't need? Well, I pre-planned my impulse buys. That may not make sense now, but it's about to.

Yeah, so basically I have a list of things I need in order to complete the drift car, and these were a few items on the list. (=

Powered by Max Engine Vitals Digital Meter
Nifty little gadget that will allow me to keep a good eye on my coolant temps as well as my oil pressure...

RB to s13 chassis downpipe/test pipe combo.
Exactly that. Kind of a home made piece, but I like it. It will allow me to sell both my downpipe as well as my test pipe from my chassis now, which will make this item almost FREE.

Waiting to hear back from Wiring Specialties about some stuff and some things (=

What you see is what you get.

This is pretty much how it's going to look.
Just need my radiator and wiring harness now!

P.S. Tommy Cho, if you don't hook me up with some toys soon, that vinyl is coming off!

Just kidding, love you Tommy!

new homes

Not as long or as difficult as you would think.

Help from a few homies.

Depending how long it takes to get my new harness,
is how long it will be until this thing is going.

cool stuff for me

So I got my goodies in today (most of them anyway)

Let's have a peek.

I'm pretty eager to get going, but I won't have a REAL day to work on it til MAYBE Wednesday, or at the latest Sunday. Oh well, gotta make money!

Under the knife... again...

So I've never really taken my time with anything when it comes to my car, I just want it up and running and drivable. This time, it's going to be different. I'm going to take my time and do it right.

The car is pretty well prepped for the engine now, just a few minor things to hit on.

I also FINALLY got that solid steering bushing installed. Talk about a slacker.
